Terms for Consulting It

A cultural reference, with clear limits on what its descriptions can do.

Publisher and purpose

This website is published by Polarbrowsecomet Coastal Heritage Ltd, 42 King Street, Bristol BS1 4DZ, United Kingdom, company no. 15468329. Contact [email protected]. These terms explain the basis on which the site and its local tools are provided.

The ledger offers independent educational and cultural commentary about traditional Nordic seafood preservation. It does not sell seafood, certify producers or provide professional advice.

Food safety and medical limits

Historical descriptions are not validated recipes or processing instructions. Do not rely on this website to determine salt levels, temperatures, drying conditions, maturation periods, storage life or whether a particular food is safe to eat. Traditional names and sensory descriptions do not establish safety.

Use current guidance from relevant food-safety authorities and follow the instructions for the specific commercial product. We cannot assess a batch by email or photograph. For illness, exposure concerns or emergencies, seek appropriate local medical assistance. Nothing on this site is medical advice.

Accuracy and independent sources

We aim to distinguish methods, places and terminology carefully, but historical interpretation can be incomplete, contested or revised. Content is provided for general information without a promise that it is exhaustive or always current. Source links are provided for further reading; we do not control external sites or imply their endorsement.

Photographs illustrate cultural settings and food forms. They are not evidence that a particular production method or batch meets safety requirements. Please send corrections through Contact.

Permitted use and intellectual property

You may read the site, link to its pages and make lawful personal use of its content. Copyright and other rights in text, design and images remain with their respective owners or licensors. Quotation and other uses permitted by applicable law remain unaffected. Ask for permission before reproducing substantial material beyond those permissions.

Do not misuse the site, attempt unauthorised access, interfere with its operation or present its content as a safety certification. Do not imply an affiliation or endorsement that does not exist.

Correspondence and local tools

The Contact tool prepares text locally for copying or download. It does not transmit your message and is not a substitute for an email service. You are responsible for reviewing the text and sending it through your own application. Browser permissions and device settings may affect copying and downloads.

Submitting an editorial suggestion by email does not guarantee a response, publication or compensation. Do not send material you have no right to share. Personal information is addressed in our Privacy notice.

Availability and responsibility

We may correct, update or remove content and cannot guarantee uninterrupted availability. To the extent permitted by law, we are not responsible for loss arising from reliance on general historical content as professional or practical processing advice.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability for fraud, fraudulent misrepresentation, death or personal injury caused by negligence, or any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded. Your mandatory legal rights are not affected.

Law and updates

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, subject to any mandatory protections and jurisdiction rights that apply to you. Changes will be shown by an updated effective date. Contact us if a provision is unclear before relying on the site for any purpose beyond its stated educational scope.
